This website
This website has no advertising or analytics scripts. Hosting providers may process technical information such as IP addresses and request logs to deliver and protect the website. Phone links open your device’s calling app. When you contact support, we may receive your phone number and the details you choose to share.
The Editorial Desk
Supabase handles administrator authentication. The website uses an encrypted, secure, HTTP-only session cookie for sign-in, which lasts up to one hour. Editorial records are stored in Supabase. Reviews record the administrator’s identity. Public visitors cannot access these records.
The iPhone app
Newspaper preferences, custom stories, and events are saved on your iPhone. Weather search and forecasts send location-related requests to Apple services. Printing and sharing send the newspaper to the printer or destination you choose. Accounts do not sync your family’s settings, stories, or drawings between devices.
Customer accounts
Supabase processes your email address, account identifier, and authentication requests so you can sign in with an email verification code or an existing account password. Our email delivery provider sends those verification messages. Sign-in credentials are stored in the iPhone Keychain. Conversion usage counts are associated with your account to enforce photo conversion allowances and protect the service. No customer account grants access to the Editorial Desk.
Subscriptions
Apple processes subscription purchases and billing. Our server verifies Apple-signed purchase information and subscription status, including the product, transaction identifiers, expiration or revocation, and an account token that links the purchase to your customer account. We use this information to provide subscription access and restore purchases. We do not receive your payment card details.
How customer data is used
Customer account information, purchase information, photographs, and conversion usage are used only to provide and protect the newspaper service. We do not use this data for advertising, marketing, or tracking across other companies’ apps and websites.
Family photographs
When you choose Create newspaper drawing, the app sends the selected photograph through our server to OpenAI to create an engraving. The app removes photo location and camera metadata before upload. Your family story text is not included in that request. Our server processes source photos in memory and temporarily holds the converted drawing for up to ten minutes so the app can retrieve it. It does not add family photos to the public edition feed or store them in the editorial database. OpenAI may retain API data under its applicable data policies; see OpenAI’s API data controls. Converted drawings that you choose to use are saved on your iPhone.
Deleting your account
Use Settings → Account → Delete account in the iPhone app to delete your customer account, its conversion usage records, and that account’s saved stories and drawings on the current iPhone. Copies you printed, exported, backed up, or saved on another device remain outside this deletion. Account deletion does not cancel an Apple subscription; manage subscriptions separately through Apple. Technical security logs and provider backups may remain subject to the providers’ retention practices.
